Frequently asked questions

What is McTimoney Chiropractic?

McTimoney chiropractic is a chiropractic technique that takes a whole body approach to providing chiropractic care. It is a gentle and precise technique making it suitable for all ages. It is one of the techniques that we practice at East Coast Chiro.

What should I wear?

During your initial assessment and treatments, you will be fully clothed. We advise that you wear comfortable clothing so that your body can be easily moved into position to allow for an effective chiropractic adjustment.

Does chiropractic treatment hurt?

Chiropractic adjustments are generally painless. If your problem is muscular, you may experience slight discomfort as the muscles release. Your Chiropractor will provide you with advice on how to manage any discomfort you may experience.

How long will it take until I start to feel better?

Everyone is different. As a general rule, the longer you've had a problem, the longer it will take to treat. Most people will start to notice a difference between their 2nd and 6th treatments.  We'll review your progress after your 6th treatment to check  you're progressing as expected and tweak your treatment plan as necessary. Your recovery is also dependent on your commitment to the treatment plan and on following the advice and any exercise routines provided by your Chiropractor.

How do I know that my Chiropractor is qualified?

Qualifying as a Chiropractor in the UK takes a minimum of 4 years' training. Following initial training, a Chiropractor will register with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) which is the governing body for Chiropractic in the UK. Each year, a Chiropractor will need to complete additional training to satisfy the requirements of the GCC and maintain a high level of standard for the profession. The GCC maintains a register of all practising Chiropractors in the UK and publishes this information on its website.
